Blue Devils XC Challenge
When:         November 3rd 2013
Where:        Ashbridges Bay (Toronto Beaches)
Time:          9:15 Registration Desk Opens
                   10 am race start (please arrive early to allow for   registration warm-up etc)
Cost:          $2 for non-members  Free for Blue Devil Members

Distance:    2km

Concession: There will be snacks, water, juice after the race
                     FREE COFFEE thanks to the Green Dragon 
                  
Who:          Grades 2-8
Parents (we’ll form teams with you too->-you can    challenges your kids!!!!)

Beaches Blue Devils are hosting a FUN RUN and are welcoming athletes to participate.   There are no age categories.  This will be one race with all athletes racing in one race.  The devils will be splitting their team up equally and have an inter-squad challenge.  We welcome other teams to do so. 

Note:  Parents are welcome to challenge their kids and race 

***If you are interested in doing an inter-squad challenge please divide the teams based on ability equally into groups of 4.***

MTA PROVINCIAL XC CHAMPIONSHIPS

Oh baby, was it ever a great race day.  Despite the cold and wet conditions the best of the best in Ontario were out in full force for the MTA Provincial Championships and the Blue Devils showed no signs up slowing!!!

Our Atom Boys had an exceptional showing this weekend placing 3rd overall

Liam Rivard placed 4th overall
Mackenzie Wood placed 13th overall
Malcolm Warcholak placed 24th overall
Connor MacDugall placed 46th overall
Collin Steinmetz placed 64th overall

Our Senior Girls came out and represented with their 6th place team finish.

Our Mite Boys didn't let the cold slow them down with their 2nd place team finish

Etobicoke XC

What a fantastic weekend of racing by the Blue Devils!!!!  We had 35 athletes competing and they all gave it THEIR ALL!!!!  I think Kyle Ervine had the quote of the day after his run. In the finishing shoot immediately after his race all he could say was "Wow, that was fast!".  Kyle was racing the year up kids in the Atom Boys category.


The Tyke Girls had a great showing placing 1st overall for a team title.

BLUE DEVILS IN ACTION

What a great weekend for racing.  The Blue Devils had some great performances at both the Guelph Open and the Toronto 5km Zoo Run!!!

The Mite Girls had a great showing with Cassidy Smyth Robinson placing 3rd, and Rebecca Warcholak placing 4th!!!!


Lexy Rivard dominated the Tyke Girls division placing 1st!

Malcolm Warcholak had a solid finish placing 9th in the Atoms Boys division!

Skye Stapor placed 3rd in her age group (14 and under) and 81st out of 1375 runners and ranked 23rd out of 952 female runners!!!

DRAGONS OPEN

The Blue Devils opened up their season on top running some fantastic races at the Durham Dragons Open.  The team battled hard and showed they got what it takes to stay tough and ROCK OUT!!! The team walked away with some team titles, some great race experience and a whole lot of smiles!!!

BLUE DEVILS READY

Blue Devils Cross Country is up and running with the first meet this weekend Pickering with the Durham Dragons hosting the meet.

For many of the team this is their first time stepping on the line for the Blue Devils, but they're excited and ready to go!!! Time to get the jitters out of the way and race hard!!!!

NEW LOCATION ON WEDNESDAYS

This Wednesday will be our opening session at SunnyBrook Park!!!  We will be meeting by the "White building" North of the soccer fields.

-The entrance is just off of Leslie, closest to Eglinton.
-Follow main road pas the restaurant and horse stables, up the hill.
-There will be a parking lot near the white building

NEW COACHES FOR THE BLUE DEVILS

Two New Coaches have been added to the staff as we enter the Cross Country season!!!  The Blue Devils are very excited to welcome Krystine Sora and Edward Hayfron!!


Krystine Sora is heading into her final year of high schol and specializes in 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles.  She competes for Birchmount Park and is a member of the Birchmount Exceptional Athlete Program (BEAP).  Krystine has several city champion titles, has medaled twice at OFSAA for the 4x400m relay and qualified a total of 10 events to OFSAA.  Krystine has also been recognized off the field by attaining multiple track MVP awards, athlete of the year awards and BEAP awards, alongside being on the honour role.


Coach Edward Hayfron is a grade 10 athlete who shows all the right qualities of an up and coming star athlete.  Ed first year in high school he has shown his versatility as an athlete winning the OFSAA Midget boys Cross Country Championships, as well as the OFSAA champion in the 800m and 1500m.  He has also been recognized as the Ontario Male athlete of the year for athletics.  Ed is currently enrolled at Birchmount Park where he is a member of the Birchmount Exceptional Athlete Program (BEAP).  Ed’s determination transfers to his schooling as well where he received academic honours during his first year.  Ed’s upcoming year is looking very promising and it’ll be great watching him defend his titles!

GOOD LUCK

The Blue Devils want to wish a BIG Good Luck to Kathleen Botha as she is set to race tomorrow in Hershey Pennsylvania in the Hershey's Games!! Kathleen will be competing in the 400m for the Girls 9-10 category.

Provincial Championships

The Provincial Championships holds the best competitors of Ontario.  Last weekend the Blue Devils showed why there one of the top teams in Ontario!!!

Tristin Rowe had a fantastic run in the 1500m placing 3rd with a time of 4:59.79 in the Atom Boys Division.

Lucas Krome came blazed out in the 100m placing 16th with a time of 15.31, and 8th in the Long Jump with a distance of 3.92 in the Boys Atom Division.

Sydney Clarke had a great run in the 200m placing 2nd with a time of 41.16, and in the 100m placing 3rd in the qualification round of 19.90, but having to miss the finals in the Girls PeeWee Division

Sara Botha gave it her all placing 5th in the 200m with a time of 50.90 and 8th in the 100m  qualification running a time of 26.26 but having to miss the finals in the Girls PeeWee Division.

Avery Clarke had another great day in the 200m winning the 200m with a Personal Best time of 34.66, and winning the 400m with a Personal Best time of 1:17.06 in the Girls Mite Division.

Cassidy Smyth-Robinson dug in deep to place 4th in the 400m with a time of 1:22.77 and 5th in the 200m with a Personal best time of 36.33 in the Girls Mite Division.

Clare Botha had a HUGE personal best running close to 4 seconds faster in the 400m placing 5th with a time 1:23.89, and 7th in the 200m with a time of 37.73, and 10th in the Long Jump with a distance of 2.80 in the Girls Mite Division.

James Wilson had a solid performance placing 4th in the 200m with a time of 33.03, 4th in the Long Jump with a distance of 3.86, and 8th in the 100m with a time of 15.21 in the Tyke Boys Division.

Ethan Rowe had a massive Personal best performance in the 200m shaving 2 seconds off his time to place 5th with a time of 33.31, and 10th in the Long Jump with a distance of 3.42m in the Tyke Boys Division.

Trifon Trifonidis continued his reign in the 400m placing 1st in the 400m with a time of 1:09.38, and 1st in the 800m with a time of 2: 41.39.


The Blue Devils had an incredible season with plenty of Personal Bests, Medals and a whole lot of laughs and smiles.  Great Performances by all.  Up next is Cross Country.  Stay tuned for more details!!!

Blue Devils own Kathleen Botha has qualified to represent Canada in the North America Hershey's Games Championships next weekend in Hershey, Pennsylvania   Kathleen will be competing in the 400m for the Girls 9-10 category racing against the best athletes from Canada and the United States!!!!!

THE HEAT CAN'T STOP THE BLUE DEVILS

What a huge run this past weekend for the Blue Devils in Mississauga.  Despite the 50min delayed start and the blazing heat waves, the Blue pushed through the obstacles to come out on top!!!

Casidy Smyth-Robinson had some great performances in the 400m setting a huge Personal Best Performance running a time of 1:22.64 placing 1st, and 4th in the 200m with a new PB time of 36.40 in the Girls Mite Division.

Clare Botha set a new Personal Best Run in the 200m digging down to placing 5th with a time of 37.71 in the Girls Mite Division.

Avery Clarke had another huge run in the 200m placing 2nd with a new personal best time of 35.5 in the Girls Mite Division.

Nordia Agurinya had her debut performance on the track circuit competing for the Devils winning her heat and placing 4th in the 400m with a time of 1:23, and 5th in the 200m with a time of 36.47 in the Tyke Girls Division.

Sydney Clarke had a big run in the 200m placing 3rd with a time of 45.16 and placing 7th in the 100m with a time of 21.73 in the Girls PeeWee Division.

Sara Botha ran awesome placing 4th in the 200m with a time of 50.65 in the Girls PeeWee Division.


Great Job Blue Devils.  Up next is the MTA Championships this weekend in Brampton.

Hershey's Provincials!

The Blue Devils had a fantastic weekend in Mississauga at the Hershey Provincial Track and Field Games.  There were some very tough competition but the Blue Devils rose to the challenge and excelled in their events!!!

Martina Ianakieva placed 3rd in the 50m with a time of 7.98 and 5th in the 100m with a time of 14.95 in the girls 9-10 category!

Kathleen Botha set a new Personal Best performance by winning the 400m with a time of 1:11.19 in the Boys 9-10 category.

Caleigh Pribaz ran great in the 400m placing 10th with a time of 1:21.67 in the Girls 9-10 category.

James Wilson ran a tough race in the 200m placing 5th in the 200m with a time of 31.89, placed 8th in the Long Jump with a distance of 1.82m and had qualified for the finals in the 100m with a time of 15.74, but unfortunately missed the finals due to weather issues.

Trifon Trifonidis had a fantastic run placing 1st in the 400m with a time of 1:10.27 setting a new Personal Best time in the Boys 9-10 category!

Tristin Rowe had a huge run in the 800m placing 3rd with a Personal Best time of 2:28.56 in the Boys 11-12 category.

Liam Rivard placed 7th in the 800m with a time of 2:36.41 in the Boys 11-12 category.


Some great performances by all!!!  Up next for the Blue Devils is the Flying Angels Track Classic on July 6th.

A huge run by  Blue Devils own Katie Stephens at the Kids of Steel Triathlon yesterday placing 2nd for her age group of 12-13, with a time of 29:59!!!  Her distances for the event were Swim 150m, Bike 9km, and Run 2km.

HERSHEY'S DOMINATION

The Hershey's qualifier was a huge success with many athletes setting personal bests and qualifying for the Hershey's Provincial Championships!!!  It spread over two days and everyone performed exceptionally well!
Saturday May 25th- Whitby

Alexander Toye had his first experience racing for the Blue Devils placing 5th in the 100m with a time of 16.06, and 6th in the 200m

Martina Ianakieva had a specular day placing 1st in the 100m, and 50m for the girls 9-10 category qualifying for Provincials.

Eva Varlokostas gave it her all in the 100m placing 5th overall with a time of 14.15 and 5th in the 200m with a time of 31.36

Sunday May 26th - Mississauga

Kathleen Botha had a great day winning the girls 9-10 400m with a time of 1:15.19 qualifying for provincials, and placing 7th in the 200m dash with a time of 32.56.
 
Caleigh Pribaz had a great run in the 400m placing 4th with a time of 1:21.62 qualifying for the provincials in the Girls 9-10 category!
Sarah Anderson set a new personal best performance with a time of 3:02.54 in the 800m placing 6, and jumping a distance of 5'8'' for the Long jump in for the girls 11-12 category

Benet Avery had a solid performance in the Girls 12-14 category for 800m placing 6th with a time of 2:37.39

James Wilson had another big day placing 3rd in the 200m with at time of 31.96, 4th in the 100m with a time of 15:06, and 3rd in the Long jump with a distance of 6'2''.  James qualified in all his events for the provincial championships in the Boys 9-10 category.

Ethan Rowe had a big run in the 200m placing 10th in and running a personal best time of 34.74 and 6th in the 400m with a time of 1:22.94 in the boys 9-10 category.

Trifon Trifonidis stays undefeated in the 400m with a time of 1:12.81 qualifying for Provincials in the Boys 9-10 category.

Connor Pribaz had a personal best performance in the 800m with a time of 2:44.47 placing 10th and placing 13th in the 400m with a time of 1:14.24

Tristin Rowe had a great race in the 800m running very smart placing 2nd overall (1st in his heat) with a time of 2:35.29, qualifying for the Provincials in the Boys 11-12 category.

Malcolm Warcholak set a new personal best in the 800m with a time of 2:41.5 placing 7th overall!
