Kyle Smith is an 800m pro athlete for Saucony.  He is currently ranked 2nd in Canada and is pursuing the 2012 Olympics.  His racing has taken him around the world where he competes for Canada. He attended the University of Northern Iowa where he finished 3rd in the 800m at the NCAA Championships and receiving a 3x All American Status.  Kyle has a BA Physical and Health Education with a teaching emphasis.  Kyle is currently training with the Canadian Olympic Centre in Arizona.

Ben Devito specializes in 1500m-3000m, competes for Birchmount Park and is a member of the Birchmount Exceptional Athlete Program (BEAP).  Ben is coming off his 11th place performance at OFSAA Cross Country as well his Silver medal performance at Indoor Ontario Provincials, which is setting him up to be an OFSAA medalist contender for this year’s track season.  Ben’s performance continues to excel on and off the track by earning Cross-country MVP and Athlete of the Year at Birchmount as well as receiving academic honours.




Leanna MacLean is a high performance track and field athlete who specializes in the 800m.  She has competed for Canada, is a 3x Canadian Bronze Medalist, and 4x Provincial Champion, and multiple Canadian CIS medalist. Leanna also holds the 800m record in Nova Scotia.  Leanna competed for both St. Francis Xavier, and Dalhousie University where she received her Bachelor of Engineering. 


Krystine Sora is heading into her final year of high schol and specializes in 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles.  She competes for Birchmount Park and is a member of the Birchmount Exceptional Athlete Program (BEAP).  Krystine has several city champion titles, has medaled twice at OFSAA for the 4x400m relay and qualified a total of 10 events to OFSAA.  Krystine has also been recognized off the field by attaining multiple track MVP awards, athlete of the year awards and BEAP awards, alongside being on the honour role.


Coach Edward Hayfron is a grade 10 athlete who shows all the right qualities of an up and coming star athlete.  Ed first year in high school he has shown his versatility as an athlete winning the OFSAA Midget boys Cross Country Championships, as well as the OFSAA champion in the 800m and 1500m.  He has also been recognized as the Ontario Male athlete of the year for athletics.  Ed is currently enrolled at Birchmount Park where he is a member of the Birchmount Exceptional Athlete Program (BEAP).  Ed’s determination transfers to his schooling as well where he received academic honours during his first year.  Ed’s upcoming year is looking very promising and it’ll be great watching him defend his titles!
